Project info

Ringers shopping center is the new name of the former Noorderarcade shopping center in Alkmaar, located near the center. In 2013, this 40,000 m2 shopping center in two layers was almost completely empty, situated on the “wrong side” of the canal and without any appearance.

In eight years, the shopping center has been completely and almost unrecognizably revitalized in several steps. The first step was a complete restyling of the central atrium with surrounding retail floors, on the basis of which Mediamarkt and a large sports store rented the floor. The second step was a complete overhaul of the entrance and ground floor, to which Decathlon connected. The third step was the demolition of 10,000 m2 shoppingfloor to create a new (parking) square, extending the passages to the rear part and reopening and linking the parking garages. This created a huge source of more than 750 parking spaces for a visit to the center of Alkmaar, partly due to the revitalization of the quay along the canal, which turned out to be not so bad. Due to this success and the arrival of many new tenants, the now beautiful shopping center became full of dynamism again.
