Shopping Center Hoog Dalem
With a design based on a fort from the Dutch Waterline, SYNRG won the competition for the neighborhood shopping center of the new Hoog Dalem residential area in Gorinchem. Prominent are the two high gates giving access to the shopping streets and the hidden square in the heart of the fort. The entrances of two large supermarkets are also located on this square so that everyone can walk past the daily shops in the shopping streets. The shops are characterized by open, sliding glass doors that invite interaction. Street, square and shop, everything comes together.
Iconic design
The shopping center is designed in a warm, redbrick with the weathered (lime) effect that you often see on older buildings.The gates, facades and canopies are heavily materialized in aluminum and cast-ironblack steel and the high roofs are covered with grass. The two large parking lots are also embedded in an urban structure, with paving, green areas and canals. The whole unmistakably exudes the atmosphere of a fortress.
